A note from our founder
A note from our founder
My first time visiting Kenya, I was genuinely surprised with how fast it began feeling like home. The people are so friendly, the food is delicious and familiar, and the accommodations are modern and upscale.
During my travels throughout the continent, I commonly hear tourists share stories about being scammed or taken advantage of, which is both frustrating and disheartening.
Living in Kenya for the last 2 years, I have had the great fortune to meet a network of wonderful Kenyans who have continuously help guide my family's journey. Their shared knowledge has not only greatly enhanced our overall experience here, but it has also saved us tons of time, energy, and resources.
With BlissPoint Travel, my hope is to build a global community that is willing to share useful, uncommon knowledge so that we can all blissfully enjoy the wonders our world has to offer.
Questions we hear most
Is Malawi safe to visit?
Malawi has a well earned reputation for friendliness, and most visits pass without trouble. Petty theft, bag snatching and night time muggings happen in Lilongwe and Blantyre, and road travel after dark is risky. Read your government's current advice before booking.
Do I need a visa for Malawi?
Malawi removed visa requirements for many nationalities in 2023, but the list depends on your passport and can change. Check the Malawi Department of Immigration's official site before you book, and make sure your passport has blank pages and enough validity.
Can I use cards in Malawi?
Only in larger hotels, lodges and some supermarkets in the cities. Malawi runs mostly on cash kwacha, ATMs are found in towns, and lakeshore villages may have none. Carry enough cash for the places beyond the cities.
Do I need malaria tablets for Malawi?
Malaria is present across Malawi all year, including at the lake. Speak to a travel health clinic about tablets well before you travel, and use repellent and a net every night.
What is the capital of Malawi?
Lilongwe, in the central region. It has the main international airport, Kamuzu International, and is where most visitors start. Blantyre in the south is the commercial city and has the second airport.
How many days do I need in Malawi?
Ten days covers Lilongwe, Cape Maclear and Liwonde. Two weeks lets you add Zomba Plateau and Mount Mulanje, or the northern lakeshore at Nkhata Bay and Likoma Island.
