Find your Bliss in Cameroon
Cameroon, made simple: rainforest, volcano, beaches and kingdoms
People call Cameroon "Africa in miniature" for good reason: rainforest, a volcano, black sand and golden beaches, grassland kingdoms and over two hundred languages in one country. Yaoundé and Douala buzz with makossa and grilled fish, Kribi's waterfall drops straight into the sea, and Foumban's sultans still hold court. This guide takes the worry out of visas, money, safety and getting around.

The classic Cameroon trip
Douala, the coast, then the kingdoms
Most first trips start in Douala or Yaoundé, run south to the beaches and waterfall at Kribi, then head up into the cool hills of the West region for Foumban's royal palace and the great chiefdom at Bandjoun. The roads between them are busy, so pace yourself with fewer, longer stops.
- Grilled fish and makossa nights in Douala
- The Lobé Falls tumbling into the sea at Kribi
- The Sultan's palace and artisans' street in Foumban
- Markets, monuments and hill views in Yaoundé

A note from our founder
A note from our founder
My first time visiting Kenya, I was genuinely surprised with how fast it began feeling like home. The people are so friendly, the food is delicious and familiar, and the accommodations are modern and upscale.
During my travels throughout the continent, I commonly hear tourists share stories about being scammed or taken advantage of, which is both frustrating and disheartening.
Living in Kenya for the last 2 years, I have had the great fortune to meet a network of wonderful Kenyans who have continuously help guide my family's journey. Their shared knowledge has not only greatly enhanced our overall experience here, but it has also saved us tons of time, energy, and resources.
With BlissPoint Travel, my hope is to build a global community that is willing to share useful, uncommon knowledge so that we can all blissfully enjoy the wonders our world has to offer.
Questions we hear most
Is Cameroon safe to visit?
Most visits to Yaoundé, Douala, Kribi and the West region pass without trouble, but petty crime is common in the big cities and governments advise against travel to the Far North and the North West and South West regions because of conflict. Read your government's current advice before booking and plan your route around it.
Do I need a visa for Cameroon?
Most visitors need a visa arranged before travel, usually through Cameroon's official eVisa portal, and rules depend on your passport. Check the official eVisa site and your nearest Cameroonian embassy before you book flights.
Do I need a yellow fever vaccination for Cameroon?
Yes. Cameroon requires a yellow fever vaccination certificate from arriving travellers, and it is checked at the airport. Get vaccinated at least ten days before you fly and carry the yellow card with your passport.
What language is spoken in Cameroon?
French and English are both official. French dominates in Yaoundé, Douala and most regions, while English is used mainly in the North West and South West. Cameroonian Pidgin is widely spoken, and there are more than two hundred local languages.
What is the capital of Cameroon?
Yaoundé is the capital, a hilly city of ministries, markets and monuments in the centre south. Douala, on the coast, is larger and the country's commercial hub and busiest airport.
How many days do I need in Cameroon?
Ten days covers Douala, Kribi, Yaoundé and the West region at a comfortable pace. Two weeks lets you add a forest stay near Campo Ma'an or more time on the coast.
