A note from our founder
A note from our founder
My first time visiting Kenya, I was genuinely surprised with how fast it began feeling like home. The people are so friendly, the food is delicious and familiar, and the accommodations are modern and upscale.
During my travels throughout the continent, I commonly hear tourists share stories about being scammed or taken advantage of, which is both frustrating and disheartening.
Living in Kenya for the last 2 years, I have had the great fortune to meet a network of wonderful Kenyans who have continuously help guide my family's journey. Their shared knowledge has not only greatly enhanced our overall experience here, but it has also saved us tons of time, energy, and resources.
With BlissPoint Travel, my hope is to build a global community that is willing to share useful, uncommon knowledge so that we can all blissfully enjoy the wonders our world has to offer.
Questions we hear most
Is Gabon safe for tourists?
Gabon is generally one of the calmer countries in Central Africa, but petty crime happens in Libreville and political gatherings can turn tense. Read the latest government travel advice before you go and take normal city precautions.
Do I need a visa for Gabon?
Most visitors need a visa, usually arranged as an e-Visa through Gabon's official online portal before travel. Rules vary by passport and change from time to time, so check the official e-Visa site and your government's travel advice.
Do I need a yellow fever vaccination?
Yes, Gabon asks arriving travellers for proof of yellow fever vaccination. Carry your certificate with your passport, and speak to a travel clinic about malaria tablets and other vaccines.
Is Gabon expensive?
Gabon is one of the pricier countries in Africa for visitors, especially hotels and park trips in Libreville and the national parks. Local food, markets and shared transport keep daily costs down.
What language is spoken in Gabon?
French is the official language and is used everywhere. Fang, Myene, Punu and many other local languages are spoken at home. A little French goes a long way, as English is not widely spoken.
When is the best time to visit Gabon?
The long dry season from June to September is the most popular time for parks and travel. December to February brings a short drier spell, and turtle nesting on the beaches runs from about November to February.
