The gateway
Nadi is where almost every international flight lands. It is a busy market town with a famous Hindu temple, the resort peninsula of Denarau next door, and the Sabeto valley's mud pools and orchid garden in the hills behind.
The islands of the west
The Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands are the Fiji of postcards: small islets of white sand and coral reef, reached by fast catamaran or seaplane from Denarau. The Mamanucas are close and resort focused; the Yasawas stretch further north and are wilder, with village stays, caves and manta rays.
The south coast of Viti Levu
The Coral Coast runs from Sigatoka to Pacific Harbour along the Queens Road. It has the Sigatoka Sand Dunes, village visits, family resorts, river safaris, and shark diving and white water rafting near Pacific Harbour.
The capital
Suva is the largest city in the South Pacific islands, a green, rainy harbour city with the Fiji Museum, the Thurston Gardens, a huge municipal market and the government and university quarter. Colo-i-Suva Forest Park is a short ride inland.
The garden island
Taveuni in the north is a lush volcanic island of waterfalls, rainforest trails and the Rainbow Reef, famous for soft coral diving. It pairs well with Savusavu on Vanua Levu, a short boat or flight away.
How to combine them
A first week often splits between the Coral Coast or Denarau and an island in the Mamanucas or Yasawas. With ten days to two weeks, add Suva or fly north to Taveuni and Savusavu. Our places to visit list has specific spots for each base, and the free trip planner helps you fit boat and flight timetables into a realistic route.
