The classic Egypt trip

Cairo, then down the Nile

Most first trips start with the Pyramids and the museums of Cairo, then fly or take the sleeper train south to Luxor and sail or drive to Aswan. Add a few days by the Red Sea and ten days shows you the very best of the country.

  • The Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum
  • Karnak, Luxor Temple and the Valley of the Kings
  • Felucca sails and Nubian villages in Aswan
  • Reefs and beaches at Hurghada or Sharm el Sheikh

A note from our founder

A note from our founder

My first time visiting Kenya, I was genuinely surprised with how fast it began feeling like home. The people are so friendly, the food is delicious and familiar, and the accommodations are modern and upscale.

During my travels throughout the continent, I commonly hear tourists share stories about being scammed or taken advantage of, which is both frustrating and disheartening.

Living in Kenya for the last 2 years, I have had the great fortune to meet a network of wonderful Kenyans who have continuously help guide my family's journey. Their shared knowledge has not only greatly enhanced our overall experience here, but it has also saved us tons of time, energy, and resources.

With BlissPoint Travel, my hope is to build a global community that is willing to share useful, uncommon knowledge so that we can all blissfully enjoy the wonders our world has to offer.

Questions we hear most

Is Egypt safe to visit?

Millions of visitors travel to Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea resorts every year without trouble. Governments do advise against travel to North Sinai and areas near the Libyan and Sudanese borders, so read your government's current advice before booking and expect security checks at sites and hotels.

What is the capital of Egypt?

Cairo, the largest city in the Arab world. A New Administrative Capital is being built to the east, but for travellers Cairo remains the gateway, with the main international airport and the Pyramids of Giza on its edge.

Do I need a visa for Egypt?

Most visitors do, and many nationalities can buy one online through Egypt's official e-Visa portal or on arrival. The rules vary by passport, so check the official portal and your nearest Egyptian embassy before you travel.

When is the best time to visit Egypt?

October to April, when days are warm rather than scorching. December and January are the busiest months. Summer suits the Red Sea and Alexandria but makes Luxor and Aswan very hot by midday.

How many days do I need in Egypt?

Ten days covers Cairo, Luxor and Aswan at a comfortable pace. Add three or four days for the Red Sea or Alexandria.
